She grew up in Japan…and in case you were wondering, she’s actually not Asian at all. However, with her beautiful, almond shaped eyes, you might think so. Courtney is a natural beauty. You know, one of those girls that just wakes up looking amazing. Her hair could be a hot mess…no makeup on and wearing baggy sweatpants and the girl would still look incredible! She makes all of us that have to work at it, a little more than frustrated! But don’t hate just because of her beautiful looks, she’s also amazing on the inside too! Wait…that didn’t make you feel any better, did it? Oops.
Courtney graduated from UGA recently and is moving on to get her Masters degree and get married! HOLLA! She and her fiance are so supportive of me and so much fun to be around. (And did I mention they are both very good looking?) I just want to follow them around with my camera all day…
Courtney, I’ll miss you!

So, I ran across this video while cleaning out my Flip camera for my upcoming Warrior Dash on Saturday! Tell me that Angelina and Reagan aren’t the cutest things ever…and I think that Angela and I aren’t so bad either.
Today, specifically, I’m thankful for the gift of music, in all it’s glorious forms. From pop to country, to rap and hip-hop, to classical and religious. I love it all. Especially when I know the words and can sing off-key.
I’m also thankful for my crazy friends making the trip with me to the Warrior Dash, where I will be dressed up as a modern-day rendition of Xena the Warrior Princess! “Ahahahhahhahhahahahhaha”. That was my Xena yell, fyi.

Here’s a story, of a lovely lady, who was working as a military nurse.
And she had hair of onyx, like her mother, it even had some curl.
Here’s the store, of a man named Gene, who was in the military zone.
He was one man, and had it all together, yet he was all alone.
Till the one day when the lady met this fellow, and they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That these two would somehow form a family.
That’s the way the two became the DeWulf Bunch. The DeWulf Bunch…
WOW. That was the cheesiest thing I’ve done in a while. Forget I just sang that to you. But srsly, I was so excited when I was asked to come and photograph a very special birthday…a 60th birthday! Berma, or B’Ma, as the grandkids know her, is an incredible woman. I love the dynamics between Berma and Gene, her husband. He’s the refined, dare I say strict, and by the book Army Colonel (retired now). She’s a feisty and cheerful Puerto Rican with a ton of energy! Their love story reminds me of a movie scene: tall, handsome soldier walks into the officer’s club on base and asks the cute, bubbly nurse to dance. They dated, got married, had three beautiful kids. Now, in the last two years, they’ve become grandparents of 5, yes 5, grandkids. And one on the way will make 6. So blessed.
Happy Birthday Berma! Thanks for letting me come hang out and eat your yummy food! You have a beautiful family and a beautiful heart!

So this week, I’m thankful for many, many things…but one thing in particular I’m really excited about!
Saturday morning I’m flying out to California for a photography conference called Escalate! Not only am I totally stoked (yes, stoked…haha) that I’m going to be listening to and sitting at the feet of some of my photog idols like Jessica Claire and Jasmine Star (holla!), but I’m going to see family and friends that I haven’t seen in ages!
If you didn’t know, I’m originally from SoCal (that’s Southern California for you old folks). Although I don’t have any adult relatives left really, I’m going to visit my cousins whom I haven’t seen since my grandmother passed away. I’m also getting to visit and old and dear friend from when I went back to Cali for college!
I’m so grateful for reunions. I don’t think I’ll ever pass up the opportunity to reconnect with someone anymore…life is just too short to let some opportunities pass you by!
*I thought I’d also copy an email that I received from my mama. It’s kinda hoakie, but if the statistics are correct (no, I didn’t verify them), then it’s pretty amazing. I have so much to be thankful for…
