It was actually a lot of fun meeting lots of women (and men) in love! I loved asking each bride how she met her fiances and what she loves about him. I’m always intrigued to find out what their favorite parts about planning their wedding has been…almost unanimously the answer was finding the dress! Hello!?!? What about the photographer?

Prices and packages will be changing too. My business will very soon be focused on weddings and seniors (both the school-aged and the more seasoned). I will still shoot families.

I’ve asked many of you for ideas of how to give back and use my talents for God and you’ve given me some great suggestions. Although this is my business, it’s also my passion. I don’t want to be all about money. Sure I have to make money to pay the bills and I can’t just give my time, talent, and service away all the time, but I thought it would make me so happy to “donate” a portrait/event/family session every month to someone deserving. It was so hard emotionally to photograph Jon’s Celebration (aka Memorial Service), but I feel so honored to have documented a time in that families life that they will never forget. I want to do more of this…

This summer I’ll be headed to Jamaica, despite the turmoil, to help start a youth summer camp. You know my camera will be documenting every moment! I’m not sure exactly what I’ll do with the images, but I’d still love to give back in some way…ideas welcome.

Regardless, thank you everyone for your love and support. Thank you for encouraging me to let my light shine. To God be all the glory.

A friend of mine and fellow widow(er) posted this on his FB. I hope he doesn’t mind me reposting. It just moved me. For those of us that have lost loved ones, I’m sure it will resonate with you too.“Happy Easter! Resurrection means so much more to me today just on a physical level. To have seen a loved one die and then days later appear alive again with a changed body would be so powerful and amazing! Jesus’ resurrection means so much more – celebrate!

Wow. Makes you think about things to look forward to…like heaven.

I’ll end with some awesome pictures (totally unrelated to Easter btw) that I took of a musician/producer friend. You’ve also seen him in his engagement pictures with his beautiful fiance–yes ladies, he’s taken.

My son is not yet two (he turns 2 on April 9th) and he’s already broken a leg…is this a sign of things to come? Should I be worried?!? I mean, I broke and dislocated my elbow at 10, but that’s because I was clumsy…not a daredevil.  Perhaps he’ll be an amazing professional something or other: snowboarder, football player, soccer player, cyclist, dancer…wait…forget that last one.

When it came time for the cast, I asked the doctor for hot pink and they looked at me like I was crazy! What? My son can’t have a pink cast?!? What kind of world is this!?! Ok…so I wouldn’t really put him in a pink cast. He got black.

Honestly, my little man is taking it in stride. He doesn’t like the huge black thing on his leg, but he’s got the best disposition regardless.

Here he is cheesing it up for the camera (and all the while remaining modest). We make life fun…even with broken bones!

ps-I still believe in God’s promises (even if he didn’t answer this prayer!)

Spencer’s birthday is on April 27th. Although he won’t be here to celebrate 31 years of life, I still wanted to do something special for this day in memory of him. I will be participating in Duke University’s Angels Among Us walk for brain cancer research the weekend of his birthday.
